April, 2004: Ocean Shores Meet
The people from the north met up with the people in Tacoma at Axiom
Motorsports and got to check out Kyle's brand new shop. Jeff was there and got
to see everyone and their cars. We had 6 cars this time out. From there we
trained down to Cattin's in Tumwater to get something to eat before proceeding
on to Ocean Shores and see if anyone else was going to show. It was a great day
so the tops came off. The trip down was uneventful with no problems, just lots
of time to take pictures. It was such a pleasant drive, just taking our time.
Once we arrived it was off to the beach, with David trying his hand at wadding
in the water, that sure didn't last to long. Nobody else wanted to try it. They
did have some rather unusual kites they were flying which made it interesting
when we were walking the beach. Because of the wind that was blowing it was a
bit cool so we all went back to check out the shops, our first stop was for
ice cream and saltwater taffy, (can't go down to the ocean without getting some
taffy). So after checking most of the shops out it was about time to start
heading back. We made one last stop at the rest stop to say our goodbyes to
Dustin who came from Oregon this time around. Thanks Dustin for coming. Also I
asked anyone if they wanted to stop at my house on the way back for pizza
before going home. From there we had a run in with a RX-7 (old school)
customized by 'crash' that was trying to get us to race him, he even went so
far as to turn on his flashers and started warming his tires by turning back
and forth, taking up both lanes, throwing up gravel in the process as he ran
off the side/edge of the road. Nobody and I mean nobody would bite on his
challenge. Next came the Ranchero as we got onto I-5 in Olympia that had to
show us that a V8 can go fast in a straight line but has some troubles when
going 80 mph onto a 20 mph 180 degree exit. Boy were there some airheads out
there that day. The rest of the trip was quiet and uneventful. Bonnie and
Thomas stopped by Geo's and Mae's for pizza before heading home for the
evening. The roster for todays meet were: Bonnie, Dave and Amy, Dustin, Geo and
Mae, Pete, Thomas. I would like to take the time to thank Bonnie and Dustin for
the added pictures for this months meet. Thanks goes out to rest of you folks
for making it to the meet this month.<p>
And by the way the last pictures shows our webmaster busy at work on putting
this page up, hee, hee. -Geo
